Decision on Toll Bar roundabout

Decision on Toll Bar roundabout

A decision to retain and enhanced the existing roundabout has today been made by the Conservative Cabinet.

After four years of protest and debate the saga it seems is now over.

The reasons given by Cabinet are reduced congestion in the short and medium term, a cheaper option with no land acquisition of third party land required and only minor road realignment is needed.

This was a unanimous decision made by the council cabinet today.

Councillor Ron Shepherd said” this has been on going for four years, longer than Brexit, impacting on all wards across the borough. We had a clear mandate to retain the roundabout and that is what we have done.”

Work to improve the junction will begin in July 2020 and last five months.
