Park Ward residents furious over area ‘plagued with junk’
Residents in Grimsby’s park ward say they are fed up with the condition of the Wintringham Road entrance to Ainslie Street Park as it continues to be plagued by abandoned household waste.
Speaking to Gi Grimsby News, one frustrated local said: “It’s been like this for years, it’s always full of junk. The council knows it happens as it gets cleared, not that I’ve seen this happen, but there’s always more junk.
“They’ve put 2 scary signs up to deter people who know they’re doing wrong, why would they care?”
Last week councillors met on site with officers from North East Lincolnshire Council and Equans, as well as the owner a nearby garage complex, to try and resolve the ongoing issue.
Park Ward Councillor Daniel Westcott confirmed that a number of measures have now been put in place.
He said: “The owners of the small area of land concerned have now been traced, which had previously been listed as unadopted.
“We are now working with the owners, who are responsible for the upkeep of this land and expect it to be both cleared and made presentable, in the very near future. Signage and covert CCTV is now in place and a collapsable bollard to prevent unauthorised access is also planned.”
