New drive-thru Starbucks in Laceby given the go-ahead despite objections

The plans for a new drive-thru Starbucks at Laceby Morrisons have now been approved, despite numerous objections.

North East Lincolnshire Council’s planning committee approved plans for the drive-thru facility to be situated in the car park of Morrisons supermarket off Grimsby Road, Laceby.

The latest proposals, originally submitted in April, were approved on Wednesday, September 7.

There were many objections raised over the development’s potential impact on traffic, noise, and waste levels. These objections have not been heard this time, as Laceby Parish Council did not object to the proposals, however, noted traffic concerns on the A46.

The new proposal will see the Starbucks café and drive-thru sited on the opposite side of the car park, near to the supermarket’s warehouse.

The application states that the new business would be expected to bring 15 new jobs to the area and the single-storey building would take up 171 sq metres. Morrison’s car park space would be reduced by 28 parking bays to make room for the new facility.

Around 15 neighbouring residents submitted comments on the application and objected to the proposals. One of the concerns said traffic “is already horrendous and hazardous” in the area.
