Div 1 teams get the job done in round of 16 knock outs

The last 16 of the team KO went by this week with six of the remaining seven division 1 teams comfortably progressing into the quarter finals.  

Both Showmans Army and Fu Cue made short work of their opponents with quick fire 5-0 victories against Redbourne Madness and Mill Road Dynamite respectively.  

Beacon A and Brumby Hall A both also progressed to the quarter finals with 5-1 wins over Ashby Crown and Redbourne Mods. Showmans Cobras and Broughton Club P are the other two division 1 sides progressing as they both earned victories against Black Beauty B and Harry’s Bar Harriers.  

RAOB of division 2 progressed following their 5-2 win at division 3 runaway leaders Beacon Rat Outcasts. Lowest ranked side Old Farmhouse of division 3 complete the last 8 line up as they came away from Jolly Sailor with a 5-2 win.

In the team KO plate, the tie of the round was at Black Beauty as Back in Black, the highest ranked side (9th) in the competition faced the second highest ranked side (11th) Mulligans Majestic Sausage Dogs.  

Las Daschunds came away with a place in the last 16 as Fairweather engineered a 45 second reverse dish in the first set of doubles secured a 5-2 victory.  

Two more division two sides progress to the last 16 as both Winterton Jubilee and Showmans Improvers earned victories over Mulligans STs and Mill Road DM respectively.  

Black Beauty A also of division 2 won’t be progressing to next round as Broughton WMCA of division 4 pulled off an upset win the deciding frame as Downie and Warren sealed the win.  

The lowest ranked side (69th) Mulligans Spurs and Scunthorpe Bowl received free passes this week into three next round. The Beckwood derby went in favour of the Bombers as they blew the Sex Panthers away with a 5-3 win whist the Schnapps Retro derby went in favour of the A team as they comfortably beat the B team 5-1. 

Division 4 title contenders Bottesford Town secured a 5-3 victory over division 4 reigning champions Fedoras.  

Division 6 sides Foxhills Club and Beacon OB made safe passage to the next round with wins over Grosvenor and Talbot respectively. Showmans Spartans won the battle of the division 3 teams as they took Cocked Hat A to a decider in the last round of doubles. 

Division 7 highflyers Mulligans Unique came within a frame of upsetting Chancel of division 3 however captain Szalma and partner did the business in the final set.  

Showmans Young Ones are also in the hunt for a league and plate double this season as they beat Brumby Hall B in convincing style winning 5-0. Struggling division 3 outfit Liberal Club put their league woes to one side as they secured a decent 5-3 win at Showmans Hornets.

The draws for the next round will take place on the 25th August.
