Two arrested after ‘unknown substance’ thrown at man in Grimsby

Emergency services have attended an incident on Hainton Avenue in Grimsby this morning with police, fire, and ambulance crews called to the scene.

Officers from Humberside Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service, and Humberside Fire and Rescue remain at the scene.

The incident is understood to have taken place this morning (Tuesday, July 19). It is said to have occurred in a yard area at the rear of a block of flats off Hainton Avenue.

Witnesses have said five vehicles were seen parked outside the Burrell & Stokes Dental Surgery.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Two people have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and are currently in our custody following an incident this morning, Tuesday, July 19.

“Officers were called to attend an address on Hainton Avenue, Grimsby following reports of a dispute at approximately 9:30 am. A man suffered facial injuries after an unknown substance was allegedly thrown at him.

“The man has been taken to hospital to receive medical treatment for serious injuries to his face. This is believed to be an isolated incident between individuals known to each other.

“Officers remain in the area conducting lines of enquiry to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
