North Lincolnshire Museum to host free family fun activities!
North Lincolnshire Museum will host historic family fun activities for everyone to enjoy, all for FREE!
Just in time for the summer holidays, the North Lincolnshire Museum have confirmed they will host a celebration day jam-packed with exciting activities for all to enjoy.
On Friday 29 July, the museum will bring the past back to life thanks to a range of interactive workshops and activities.
Families will be able to journey through thousands of years, visiting James from Ancient Crafts in his Stone Age camp where he will demonstrate the beauty in crafting tools.
Then, the younger members of the audience will come face to face with the Regia Anglorum Vikings, watching on as the fierce warriors re-enact combat scenarios. Children will also be able to take part in themed drills and listen to magical Norse myths!
The event will allow visitors to get creative and make their very own clay pots, join Collections Team and handle real archaeological objects, or follow a variety of clues during an activity trail throughout the Museum.
“The fun day is the latest free family activity the council has organised this summer and follows news that pools across the area will once again open their doors for free swimming, benefitting thousands of children,” the council said in a statement.
Cllr John Davison, cabinet member for safer, stronger communities: urban, said:
“North Lincolnshire Museum’s Living History Day is another fantastic educational event that won’t cost families a penny.
“The Museum prides itself on providing the most engaging, hands-on history and this event is no exception – visitors will be able to touch the past as they travel through time, from the Stone Age right through to the Victorian period.
“If you are yet to visit the Museum this will be a brilliant day to discover everything this wonderful and completely free attraction has to offer.”
The event will split its activities into different times slots – there is no need to book in advance, the council confirmed.
