Man jailed after throwing scooter through ex-partners window

A man threw a child’s scooter through the window of his ex-girlfriend’s home after a row about whether she was pregnant.

Sean Munson, 31, of Westhill Road, Grimsby, admitted witness intimidation and criminal damage.

Grimsby Crown Court heard how  Munson continued to bombard his ex with threatening text messages and video calls from the police van after being arrested.

On Saturday, June, 4, Munson turned up at the address at 3am while she was at home with her young children.

He drank half a litre of vodka while he was there and then started “acting weird,” according to his girlfriend. He told her: “I’m not going to hurt you.”

She alerted police and officers attended but police did not know who Munson was as he left the property and walked past him.

Following an interview with the woman, officers left to carry out a search but Munson returned and disturbed neighbours by throwing a brick through a downstairs window and a scooter through an upstairs bedroom window.

The girlfriend took shelter with her children in another room as glass showered the bedroom.

Police officers returned and arrested Munson under the threat of using a taser. He was placed in the police van, where he used his mobile phone to send threatening and abusive messages.

One message read: “I am willing to die. Are you? You are a grass,” along with threats to kill.

Munson was previously sentenced to over five years for robbery of a Lifestyle Express store on Grimsby Road, Cleethorpes in 2016 and has a total of 28 offences recorded against him. He had only been out of prison for seven weeks when he committed the intimidation of his girlfriend.

Munson said he had gone round to his ex-partners home because she texted him saying she was pregnant.

Judge Sophie McKone  jailed him for 12 months for witness intimidation and two further months for criminal damage.
