Support from charity initiative has ‘overwhelmed’ local man

The support that a North Lincolnshire man has received for his amazing charity initiative has left him feeling “inspired and overwhelmed.”

Earlier in the month, Dec Marshall, who lives in Winterton, confirmed he would throw a brand-new charity event following an incredible result during the “Pete Marshall Charity Match.”

Last year Dec raised over £22,000 for Scunthorpe’s Intensive Care Unit, which enabled the hospital to purchase vital equipment to help treat patients.

Speaking to Gi Scunthorpe News, Dec confirmed he would run a second charity event, this time raising funds for the brilliant work done over at the Lindsey Lodge Hospice, adding:

“After such a successful event last year raising £22k for Scunthorpe intensive Care unit and bringing the village together, we have decided to arrange round 2, this time raising money for Lindsey Lodge Hospice.

“Close friends of the family and community have recently suffered with cancer and it’s only right we do our part.”

Now, Dec has confirmed his amazing charitable work has already garnered £4,000 after his sister opened a GoFundMe page.

Following the breath-taking support already exhibited, Dec said he is “overwhelmed by the support so far”, adding:

“After a week of releasing the news, we have received over £4k in donations and over £2k in raffle prizes. We aren’t stopping yet!”

Well done Dec and everybody involved behind the scenes!
