By Works underway on new Scunthorpe Costa Coffee drive-thru
Works are well and truly underway on a brand-new Costa Coffee for locals to enjoy.
Scunthorpe is to receive a brand-new Costa Coffee drive-thu near the Lakeside roundabout.
Being built in Morrisons car park, the coffee house could create around 15 jobs for residents.
Despite the potential job prospects, the announcement to build another Costa Coffee in the town had received controversial responses.
One of the main concerns about the location of the drive-thru is the congestion that it is likely to cause. The area is already notorious for its busy roads with traffic moving at a slow pace after departing from the vicinity. Now, many locals believe the area will become “chaotic” after the coffee house has been fully built and in operation.
As a result of the controversy, proposals to reduce queues were submitted but only divided opinions further. Morrisons came out and suggested a slip road could be a viable alternative to reduce traffic and slow moving queues.
It is understood that the new drive-thru will take up around 50 parking spaces, but Morrisons confirmed customers will experience minimal disruptions whilst shopping with the supermarket giant.
Once construction is complete and doors officially open, the new Costa Coffee drive-thru will be open between 5am and 11pm seven days a week.
