Fuel theft warnings following spate of suspicious activity
Residents are being warned of potential fuel thefts in a North Lincolnshire village.
A Resident in Winterton has issued strong warnings for locals following a rise in anti-social behaviour and the potential theft of fuel.
In a social media post, the individual stated she had identified several nearby vehicles with tampered petrol caps, adding:
“Obviously, someone has been checking to see if they can nick any fuel.
“Fortunately, most of the ones that you can open seem to require a key to get into the actual fuel.
“But if your cap can be entered without a key be wary.”
Following the message, residents were quick to share their experiences with “gangs of youths” riding motorcycles, without helmets, throughout the village.
“There was a group of lads about 4/5 of them on motorbikes, no helmets and hoods/ balaclava on, going up earlsgate about 8.30pm – because one was doing a wheelie and nearly crashed into me”, said one resident.
“Sounds like the same lads we saw going along Kingsway last week..no crash hats..balaclava etc. And one of the lads was standing up on the back of one swerving into oncoming traffic”, added another.
Meanwhile, one local suggested the youths did not live in Winterton: “Pretty sure there not from Winterton, seen them coming over Hawkstow bridge when I take my dog out.”
