Plans to give pub new lease of life after standing derelict for a decade

An abandoned pub is about to receive a new lease of life after standing empty for nearly ten years.

The New Plough Inn in Covenham St Bartholomew, Louth will be turned into two houses with East Lindsey District Council giving planning permission.

The new houses will be incredibly attractive to prospective buyers, featuring rooms including a gym, an office, and a cinema room. The pub has been empty since 2014.

Describing the site, East Lindsey District Council said: “The disused public house on the site is an attractive two-storey building positioned side on to the road with the front elevation facing south. There is a grassed area which was formerly installed with electricity hook-up points for a five van licensed caravan site to the west of the building and a large patio to the northern side of the building.”

The approved proposals will see one house being formed from the older frontage part of the building, which will feature a main living area, a gym and an office. The second house will include a cinema room and four large bedrooms.

Multiple planning applications have been submitted to the council in the past to turn the vacant pub into multiple dwellings but these plans were rejceted for a number of reasons.

The former pub is surrounded by procted sites, with a Grade II listed house to the east and a Grade II listed church opposite.
