Poundland finally opens after fresh refurbishment following move!
Poundland has opened today, Saturday, June 11 following weeks of preparation by staff moving stock.
Eager shoppers were waiting outside for the doors to open, to grab a deal at the store which welcomed customers in during its opening.
The store will have access from both Victoria Street, and Freshney Place precinct, coinciding with their opening times.
The discount store will be taking over the former New Look store on Victoria Street, with the doors finally opening on Saturday at 9 am.
More than 12,000 square feet, the supersize store has been designed to offer the widest product range possible and to give customers a great shopping experience.
It will employ 23 full and part-time colleagues, the same as the store it replaces at 1-7 Victoria Street.
This move will also make way for the planned multi-million development of the western entrance to Freshney Place.
The £17 million redevelopments submitted by North East Lincolnshire council will include a new food hall and a multi-screen cinema.
Leading clothing retailer PEP&CO, which has quickly become one of the top 20 clothing retailers in the UK, replaces fashion brand New Look.
A statement issued by Poundland said: “Grimsby town centre is going through a major regeneration.
“As part of that, we’re preparing to move from our existing store in Victoria Street to a new unit in Freshney Place in the spring.
“Our new store will offer customers the amazing value they’ve come to expect and more.
“It will have an extended PEP&CO clothing and homeware range and will join the growing number of Poundland stores to offer chilled and frozen food.”
