Excitement builds as Great Grimsby 10k with Jubilee twist is days away!

The upcoming Orsted Great Grimsby 10k is growing closer as it is set for Sunday 5th June at 9 am.

It is expected crowds will flock to cheer on those partaking in the 10k, as many runners take to the streets to complete the challenge.

The race will start at Grimsby Town Hall, heading along Scartho Road, Louth Road, and Peaks Parkway, before turning onto Welholme Road to finish in People’s Park.

Along the course route, there will be three water stations for thirsty runners to keep up their efforts, all in recyclable cups.

At the end of the race, there will be 500ml bottles of water ready and available for those finishing the race, which is also recyclable.

Race organisers Tape2Tape are promoting a ‘litter-free’ race and are asking people to support this.

There will also be a family fun run, which will take place at St Hugh’s Hospital at the same time as the 10k, it will be a 1km route around People’s Park in Grimsby, and locals are encouraged to get involved.

St Hugh’s Hospital in partnership with Tape2Tape is giving away 250 free places for the fun run.

At the finish line, there will be exciting stalls and music for festivities to be shared all around, where The Culture House has been awarded funding to host a ‘creative and cultural event’ during and after the race to celebrate, a wonderful Jubilee picnic in the park event to relax and enjoy.

The Humber Taiko will be attending again this year, to drum the runners across the finish line.

According to NELC on their website the road closures are as follows:

Streets around Grimsby Town Hall will be closed between 6 am and 9.30 am, with the race route being closed from 8 am and those on the route up to 2km should see roads reopen from 9.40 am- those 6km should see from 10 am. All roads will be open by 11:30 am.
