Man charged following dramatic incident on roof

Humberside Police have released a statement regarding a man charged following the incident last week.

The incident took place on Werneth Road, Grimsby, on Friday 13th May.

Christopher London, 34, of Wellholme Road, has been charged with multiple offences following the incident.

The incident involved the man taking to the roof of a building.

In their statement, Humberside Police said:

“A 34-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences following an incident on Werneth Road in Grimsby on Friday 13 May.

“Christopher London of Wellholme Road, Grimsby has been charged with affray, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance, and possession of drugs.

“He was remanded in custody to appear at Grimsby Magistrates Court today, Monday 16 May.

“At around 11 pm on Friday, 13 May, a man reportedly took to the roof of a building before allegedly making threats and causing a disturbance.”

Police placed a large cordon in place after the man scaled a rooftop and reportedly threw tiles toward officers below.

The incident was on Werneth Road off Wellington Street, some families had been asked to leave their homes as a safety precaution.

The road was fully closed and the cordon included the walkway to Albion Street.
