Knife crime awareness week begins today!
Humberside Police have laid out their plans for knife crime awareness week.
As knife crime is becoming all too familiar within UK towns and cities, Humberside Police will use knife crime awareness week to educate and support our local area.
In a statement, the force stated they would use the week to educate local communities on the devastating impact knife crime poses to victims and their families.
“Op Sceptre was launched in 2015 so in Keeping with national momentum, police forces across the country have adopted local strategies to tackle the threat of knife related issues”, they said.
“Alongside a number of tactical approaches to proactively tackle knife crime, Humberside Neighbourhood policing teams are placing equal emphasis on education and engagement”, they added.
“Working in partnership with education establishments, voluntary organisations, parents and young people, we aim to raise awareness about the risks and impact carrying a knife/weapon can have on individuals and the community”
Additionally, the force wants to retain the positive work far beyond this week with hopes to “establish longer-term working relationships with schools” to further educate students and most importantly, to keep young people safe.
