Docks Academy hosting social event for Mental Health Awareness Week
Docks Academy are today hosting a free social event in a bid to get people talking for Mental Health Awareness week.
Locals are invited to drop in any time between 12 pm and 9 pm for as long as they like at Docks academy on Church Street in Grimsby.
Organisers said they want to reduce loneliness to help people’s mental health, adding that this event will continue on the second Wednesday of every month.
Sharing the open house on Facebook Docks academy said: “1 IN 4 ADULTS feel lonely some or all of the time. A HUGE percentage of the population! You are not alone.
“That’s why we are opening our doors for our free OPEN HOUSE on Wednesday 11th May between 12-9 pm so people can socialise, meet others, and feel part of a community.
“Our OPEN HOUSE will continue on the 2nd Wednesday of EVERY month.”
Set above Docks Beers, Docks Academy’s open house will have free activities such as Lego, dominoes, drawing, reading, and group chats.
Go alone or take a friend for support where you can enjoy a free tea or coffee with your chat.
Organisers added: “Reducing loneliness is a major step towards a mentally healthy society, so we want to open our doors, so you can meet, socialise and enjoy music or cultural experiences with others.
“If you (or you know of anyone) would benefit from a free, safe, and friendly social event please do come along. This may be daunting but we would love to see you pop in even just for a cuppa.”
