‘Our Future Starts Here’ heading for Grimsby
A brand new project exploring pressing issues of our time and our future through innovative and progressive programmes is heading for Grimsby.
Taking place from 27 May till 29 May, ‘Our Future Starts Here’ invites you ‘experience Grimsby differently’, presenting a range of outstanding installations and performances from leading UK artists, in outdoor and indoor spaces in the town.
From thought-provoking performances to virtual reality experiences, this event is set to provide fun for all the family while also highlighting key issues that we face.
Sharing the exciting news, The Culture House said: “Presented in association with Ørsted Our Future Starts Here takes a bold look at our collective futures, focussing on ‘people, place and planet’ and on the things that matter to us all.
“There will be chance to hear from a range of speakers, as we host credible and relevant conversations in local settings.
“We’ll offer new experiences for residents and visitors in their place, making creativity and culture accessible, while enabling understanding of how we together achieve ‘greener, healthier, happier futures’.
“With this in mind, we’ll be connecting you to our Grimsby-based, yet world-leading renewables industries, who are at the forefront of global developments and we’ll be continuing to celebrate our town.
“This is a key time for Grimsby’s regeneration and we’ll also be highlighting how important culture is to achieving vibrancy of place and quality of life.
“There’s an engaging children’s programme on future themes and we’re also supporting a new generation of experimental music talent.
“We welcome you to get involved, by enjoying free Da-Vinci inspired virtual reality rides, finding out how you can save money on your household bills, taking ten minutes out for mindfulness and seeing spectacular theatre performed from the side of an articulated lorry! Some of the best companies in the UK will be in here and you don’t have to pay a penny to see them, as finally, we have investment for culture that’s begun to start ‘levelling us up’!”
Commissioned as part of the Grimsby Creates programme, the event is funded as part of The Cultural Development Fund by Arts Council England, produced by The Culture House and supported by Without Walls FutureEverything and HemingwayDesign.
