Diesel the swan showing ‘extremely positive’ progress
A swan who was rescued from a road in Grimsby covered in fuel is showing signs of getting better!
On Thursday a mute swan has been rescued from a dangerous highspeed road in Grimsby.
The swan, now named Diesel, was spotted on a highspeed road in Grimsby and rescued by local volunteers.
Upon its rescue, it became clear that the swan was badly contaminated as it reeked of fuel, with its entire torso being covered.
The team rushed the swan for immediate chemical contamination clean to remove as much as possible while arranging treatment.
Further treatment started as signs showed that Diesel potentially ingested chemicals.
Now, the rescue team has shared that Diesel is showing progress but there is still a way to go.
In an update, they said: “A huge thank you to all who have supported the campaign for Diesel the mute swan so far – Progress is certainly being shown!
“Diesel was found yesterday (05.05.2022) on a busy road just outside Grimsby covered in fuel, we’ve still got a long way to go and he’s still on a fluid infusion at the moment but all progress so far has been extremely positive.
“We do not believe this to be a deliberate act, we’re going to be checking the nearby ditches for any spillages and report them accordingly.”
Due to the nature of this rescue, this bill could reach £600 meaning the rescue team may need some help from the public.
