Residents forced to evacuate after outbuilding fire spreads

There were reports of a building on fire yesterday evening.

Humberside Fire & Rescue were called to the scene at around 8pm last night, Monday May 2nd after reports of a building on fire.

It is understood the fire had started at the back of the property on Rutland Street.

There were no reported injuries when the fire crews arrived on scene with residents managing to evacuate.

The outbuilding that had originally caught alight was completely destroyed.

There was also some fire damage to the roof of the house with some smoke inside the property.

Crews used two hose reels, four breathing apparatus, thermal imaging cameras to help put out the blaze.

Smoke alarms were then fitted and tested in the home and the incident was left with Humberside Police.

A spokesperson from Humberside Fire and Rescue said: “Outbuilding on fire which spread to neighbouring property. All occupants evacuated uninjured prior to fire service arrival. Outbuilding fully destroyed by fire.

“Fire damage to roof of property and light smoke logging inside of property. Two hose reels, four BA, two thermal imaging cameras, small tools, salvage sheet, PPV fan and short extension ladders in use. Smoke alarms fitted and activated. Incident left with police.”
