Concerns raised as Harrison House reportedly seeing dramatic covid increase
Some concerning reports have been given about Harrison House in recent days, with witnesses stating that covid is currently sweeping through the Pelham Lodge ward.
Sources told Gi Media that covid patients are confined to their rooms as the ward is on lockdown.
Patients reportedly have no call bells to ask for assistance, instead having to ‘listen out for nurse’s foot steps’ to ask for water or aid.
The sources also stated that staff are not using adequate PPE, either not wearing the right pieces or wearing the same equipment in multiple patient rooms.
Some patients have been left waiting for medication for ‘hours’ as staff are either going off sick due to covid or dealing with other patients.
The situation on the ward has been described as ‘chaotic’.
We contacted Harrison House, which is run by NAViGO, in regards to these concerns.
NAViGO said: “We continue to work within the Government guidelines for the management of COVID and infection control.
“All patients have access to fresh air, timely medication, and therapeutic activities, as well as phones and iPads so they can stay in contact with their families.
“All patients have immediate access to staff and are constantly monitored and cared for. We have increased our staffing levels to support this.
“All of our staff members have a more than adequate supply of appropriate PPE in line with Public Health England’s infection control guidance.”
