Former Grimsby PC appears in court over misconduct

A former Grimsby police officer appeared in court on Tuesday 22 February over a misconduct charge.

Kate Elston is alleged to have passed confidential information to two members of the public during the course of her duties.

Ms Elston was a PC with Humberside Police in Grimsby at the time of the alleged offence.

She was arrested back in October 2020 and has been charged with one count of misconduct in public office following an investigation.

She is alleged to have passed information and intelligence from a police briefing during the course of her duties between February 2019 and September 2020 to two members of the public.

The investigation was carried out by Humberside Police under the guidance of the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

It referred the case to the Crown Prosecution Service, which determined Ms Elston should be charged.

She will appear at Leeds Magistrates Court at 10 am on March 1 for sentencing.
