Lincolnshire residents still without power

Thousands of households across Lincolnshire and Yorkshire are still without power following Storm Eunice.

Over 30,000 people are thought to have been affected.

Engineers have been working through the night to repair the issue and say they have made “great progress” and that their efforts are now focused on restoring power to the remaining customers.

But, according to Northern Powergrid, continuing high wind-speeds are likely to cause delays to some the work, much of which will need to be done at height.

Andy Bilclough, Director of Field Operations, said: “We got off to a good start this morning. Our target is to get everyone back on today. We’re not yet at a point where that is guaranteed – in these situations there is always the potential for unwelcome surprises.

“But we are already confident that if we don’t get everyone back, only a few customers will have to wait until tomorrow. I can tell you we will be doing everything we can to get done today.”

Anyone experiencing a power outage or shortage is advised to report it directly to their local supplier.
