Constituents frustration at ‘invisible’ Grimsby MP
People across Grimsby have taken to social media to express their frustration at local MP Lia Nici’s lack of visibility.
Ms Nici was elected as MP for Great Grimsby in 2019. She is Grimsby’s first Conservative MP in 74 years.
She recently appeared at the House of Commons claiming that she had been “out and about” speaking to constituents, who were standing behind Boris Johnson amid the ongoing lockdown party scandal.
But the majority of residents say they do not hold this opinion.
Many have referred to her as ‘invisible’, stating that they have neither seen nor heard from Ms Nici in months.
Many are beginning to question whether she is fit to represent the people of Grimsby. Several are even calling for her resignation.
Speaking via Facebook, one local resident said: “She is a total disgrace as an MP. She has done nothing for Grimsby except vote to make us poorer while she rakes it in. Stand down and close the door on the way out!”
Another wrote: “All I’ve seen her do is hand out gtfc hats and shirts to Boris Johnson. Nobody sees or hears from her in day to day life.
“While I wasn’t a fan of the previous mp Melanie Onn, she was very visible and had the towns interests when speaking in the commons.
“Ms Nici has been absolute disaster as a spokesperson for Grimsby. If she gets more than a 5% vote in the next election, I’ll be astounded.”
“I’ve been waiting months for a reply to an email I sent Lia Nici. She replied to my initial message asking for more detail which I sent straight away, since then it’s been total silence from her,” added another.
Despite having a working relationship with Lia Nici in the past, Gi Grimsby News has not received a response from Lia Nici in several months.
What do you think? Does Lia Nici do a good job of representing the people of Grimsby?
