Huge Scunthorpe Jobs Expo to help dozens into employment
The Scunthorpe Jobs Expo is set to return next week with dozens of opportunities and careers for North Lincolnshire locals to browse and get involved in.
The huge jobs fair will be held at the Baths Hall on Doncaster Road in Scunthorpe on Wednesday 9 February from 2:30pm to 6:00pm.
Employers from sects such as retail, hospitality, health and social care, manufacturing, logistics and more will be available for a chat during the Scunthorpe Jobs Expo.
This includes companies like Ongo, Bupa Healthcare, CANPACK UK, Rocal, Cooplands, Sawcliffe Manor, the British Army, British Steel, Humberside Fire and Rescue, Demeter House School and many more.
The Jobcentre and the Department for Work and Pensions has partnered with North Lincolnshire Council in order to get people back into work and improve the economy following the Covid-19 pandemic.
The last Jobs Expo in Scunthorpe was held in October 2021 and proved helpful in getting many locals into new roles.
Companies at the job market will be looking for ‘committed workers determined to improve outcomes for themselves and their families’, North Lincolnshire Council reported.
Students from Years 11 and 13 have also been invited to speak to employers at the Scunthorpe Jobs Expo.
They will be able to explore a wide range of apprenticeship schemes and beginners roles that are on offer for younger individuals.
These opportunities may lead to training, permanent and paid employment for many youths.
All visitors are being encouraged by the council to bring their CVs to the event and should be prepared to take part in on-the-spot interviews that could lead to paid work.
The Jobs Expo will reportedly be opened virtually by Scunthorpe MP Holly Mumby-Croft with North Lincolnshire Council leader Cllr Rob Waltham in attendance.
Cllr Waltham said: “The kind of North Lincolnshire we want to build relies on high-quality sustainable jobs and a well-trained, motivated workforce.
“The [Scunthorpe] Jobs Expo helps us go a long way towards achieving this.
“The marketplace is very competitive right now and we are seeing employers competing hard to attract the right kind of employees, so there has never been a better time for people to take a step up.
“Supporting businesses to get the people and skills they need will help build back our economy better, improving the outcomes for every family in North Lincolnshire.”
