Police issue statement after Stallingborough level crossing incident

British Transport Police have released an official statement following a tragic incident which occured at Stallingborough level crossing on Saturday 18th of December.

The incident came to light on Saturday afternoon when TransPennine Express trains were halted, and access to the crossing in Stallingborough was cut off.

It was later confirmed that the body of a man had been discovered.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and taken away in a private ambulance.

The crossing was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.

It reopened at around 19:00, allowing traffic and trains to pass through.

We contacted the British Transport Police for a comment.

They have now released an official statement, confirming that the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson said: “British Transport Police were called to the line in Stallingborough at 2.21pm on Saturday 18 December following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
