Covid case rates rise drastically in North Lincolnshire this week

Covid case rates continue to rise in North Lincolnshire with the current rate standing at 446.3 cases per 100,000 people.

In the seven days from Friday 10 to Thursday 16 December, 786 people had a confirmed, positive Covid-19 test, an increase of 3.4 percent compared to the previous seven days.

The data comes after news that nearly 90,000 Covid-19 cases were reported across the UK on Thursday 16 December alone, the highest recorded rate since the pandemic began.

The NHS continue to fight for a brighter future by rolling out vaccines every week.

Government data shows that, by the end of Wednesday 15 December, 130, 198 people had been given their first vaccine and 119,894 people had been given their second.

Between Monday 6 and Sunday 12 December, 14 people were admitted into hospital.

The total amount of patients currently in hospital with coronavirus now stands at 56 (as of Tuesday 14 December).

However, over the last seven days, there have been no deaths within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test, which highlights how the vaccines are successfully decreasing the severity of the virus’ effects when individuals catch it.

To encourage more people to receive their vaccinations and booster jabs, a new vaccine centre is set to open in Scunthorpe on Tuesday 21 December.

It will be based at The Foundry in Scunthorpe town centre and will be accepting walk-ins between 9:00am and 5:00pm on Tuesdays through to Saturdays.
