Local community groups to apply for Community Ownership Fund
With a week left until the deadline, Scunthorpe MP Holly Mumby-Croft is urging local community groups to apply for the government’s Community Ownership Fund.
The Grant, which was first announced in March as part of the Government’s Levelling-Up agenda, allows for local community groups to bid for up to £250, 000.
The matched funding is to help buy or take over local community assets at risk of being lost, to run as community-owned businesses.
In exceptional cases, up to £1 million matched-funding will be available to help establish a community-owned sports club or help buy sports grounds at risk of being lost without community intervention.
Speaking about the Grant, Holly says: “The Community Ownership Fund is a brilliant opportunity for local community groups to play an active role in the Government’s “Levelling-up” agenda.
“As ever I want to ensure that our area can benefit from funding opportunities so please get in touch if you have further questions.”

It’s a great opportunity for local community groups!
Holly has also asked for those applying for the grant to get in touch, noting that: “Throughout the past year and so, I was able to work closely with local charities, businesses and groups to secure funding for a few local projects. Do get in touch if you have made an application.”
The Community Ownership Fund will be closed for application from 13th August.
