Police cracking down on uninsured drivers in Scunthorpe

Last night Humberside Police attended two separate incidents around Scunthorpe of drivers having no insurance.

A Mini Cooper was stopped due to flagging up on the police system as uninsured.

Police reported: “the driver was spoken to and further enquiries at the roadside revealed that the insurance company had cancelled the policy on 12/07/21 after numerous failed attempts to contact the policy holder.”

In another separate incident of a stopped vehicle in Scunthorpe, it transpired that a male driver did not have a full licence.

Police stopped the vehicle which proved to be registered and insured to a female only, but was seen being driven by a male at the time.

Humberside police reported: “Possibly after noticing us behind, the driver quickly turned the corner and pulled over just in time for us to see a female passenger swapping with the male driver.

“The vehicle had no L plates, and the male was not covered on the insurance policy.

“Both driver and owner were reported for several offences and the vehicle was seized.”
