Man sentenced following aggravated burglary in North Lincolnshire.
A man has been sentenced to 9 years and 4 months behind bars following an aggravated burglary at a property on Thursday 1 November 2018.
Kyde Murray (28) of Conway Square, Scunthorpe was sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court on Monday 28 June after pleading guilty to aggravated burglary, dwelling burglary and non-dwelling burglary.
The court heard how Murray and a second man gained entry to a property on Grange Lane South, Scunthorpe in the early hours of the morning on Thursday 1 November 2018.
As the homeowner slept, Murray attempted to rummage through the house in search for items of value.
Whilst inside the house the callous crooks were disturbed by the owner after he was awoken by noises and lights from downstairs.
The owner attempted to confront the pair of intruders but was then attacked with a weapon. The victim was able to defend himself and was taken to hospital to receive treatment for his injuries, thankfully they were not serious.

The two intruders then fled the scene and Murray was arrested the same day by officers on Bottesford Road, Scunthorpe.
Detective Constable Jason Carter said: “Two men were initially charged, however only Murray faced court proceedings. He put his victim through a terrifying and unnerving experience, nobody should have to feel unsafe in their own home.
“The sentence is well deserved and hopefully his time behind bars will provide his victims with some comfort that justice has now been served.
“I’d like to thank members of the public who assisted us with lines of enquiry enabling us to identify Murray promptly following the incident.
“Crimes like this will not be tolerated and we will continue to take proactive action in a bid to deter these criminals from committing crime in our local communities.”
