Plans have been submitted to erect 2 retail units & one drive-thru unit off Kingsway.
There are unconfirmed reports that Starbucks, Couplands and Co-Op have been mentioned as part of the development.
One person said ‘There are many reasons why this should not go ahead. We should keep the green space for local residents to use, also the green space reduces the pollution from the main road.
‘The increased traffic will cause more issues on an already busy junction and cause issues for local residents. Increased litter in the area in the area.
‘No need for more shops in the area, as for investment should be focused on the town centre.’
Many residents have already voiced their concern over the plans.
Another stated ‘the shops and takeaways are a plenty just down the road. There are already drive throughs at the end of town in both directions of this rood without adding another in the centre of it.
‘Traffic is bad enough near this roundabout without adding more congestion. Central Park is a lovely area with plenty of wildlife and this would just bring litter which is bad enough.’
