Grimsby care home residents get new pen pals
Residents at Eaton Court Care Home, Augusta Street, Grimsby, have received letters from students wanting to reach out to them during the pandemic.
The students, from Grimsby Institute, wrote to the residents telling them about their lives and interests, whilst encouraging the residents to write back by asking them questions about their hobbies and what they enjoy doing.
Everyone at the home was overwhelmed to receive the letters and one of the residents even got a little emotional whilst reading one.
However, it wasn’t long before the sound of laughter filled the room when residents read that the students enjoy eating McDonalds for breakfast!
The residents are overjoyed to have some new pen pals and have already started writing their replies.

Anne Ruttle, Care Home Manager at Eaton Court, is working with her team to make sure everyone has a pen pal.
She said:
“The students’ letters are a wonderful inspiration to our residents”.
“In these difficult times, it’s a great opportunity for them to make new friends outside the home”.
