Mulligans Trojans extend lead following latest round of Pool League fixtures

The race for the top honour in the Scunthorpe Pool League is becoming clearer after Mulligans Trojans extended their lead.

An 8-4 victory over fellow contenders Showman’s Army put the Trojans firmly in the driving seat in Division One, as they pulled nine frames clear of their nearest rival. The visitors took a 4-1 lead, but braces from Ellis and Lakin ensured the hosts claimed the victory.

Showman’s Fu Cue remained in the picture following their comprehensive 11-1 win over bottom-side Redbourne Mods. But clubmates Chaos suffered a narrow 8-5 defeat to Beacon.

Showman’s Improvers did their survival hopes a world of good with an impressive 7-5 victory over Mulligans MSD, while Showman’s Cobras are moving closer to the trapdoor after they suffered an 8-4 defeat at Broughton Club.

Winterton Jubilee opened up a six-point gap at the top of Division Two following their 9-3 win over ninth-placed Black Beauty A.

Messingham Crown stay second on the back of their 7-5 win at home to Mill Road BC, while RAOB remain hot on their heels after their 8-4 victory over Fedoras to stay third.

Brumby Hall won the second derby match of the season 9-3 against Brumby Hall Stars, with Showman’s Rat Outcasts scoring the biggest win in the division – a 10-4 success – against Cocked Hat.

Pig and Whistle marched into a five-point lead at the top of Division Three, winning 8-5 at Harry’s Bar. Closest rivals Ashby Crown kept up the pace at the top following their narrow 7-5 triumph against Glenny’s Poachers.

Showman’s Young Ones suffered only their second loss of the campaign in Division Four, courtesy of an 8-5 scoreline against relegation-threatened Redbourne Madness.

Chancel Flyers remained on course for second place after winning 8-5 at Mulligans Misfits, while Mill Road Dynamite earned a 6-6 draw at RHH Hospital Club to maintain their promotion hopes.

In Division Five, it remained business as usual when Harry’s Bar Harriers saw off Comet 12-1 to record their 13th win of the season. Beckwood Sex Panthers stayed in second after a decent 8-4 win over Mulligans Youth.

Schnapps A have incredibly moved with four points of the top spot, winning comfortably 11-2 at Foxhills Bulldogs. The visitors were well off the pace until recently, but a flurry of results has moved them within touching distance of first-placed Mulligans Runaways.

The leaders failed to win for the third league match in a row after claiming victories in their previous 13 league games, with sixth-placed Schnapps Elite the latest to claim a 6-6 draw against them.

In Division 7, Redbourne Z went joint top for the first time this season following their 7-5 victory over fellow title contenders Schnapps Retro B. Lord Roberts share pole position, as they drew 6-6 with third-placed Bottesford Town to keep the title race very much alive.

Scunthorpe Bowl earned their most comprehensive victory to date in the pool league after securing an 11-2 win at Grosvenor.
