By Report: Full fixture list takes place for first time in LCCL season
At long last the weather played ball as every scheduled game in the Lincolnshire County Cricket League was played to a conclusion after weeks of postponements and abandoned matches.
LCCL PREMIER DIVISION
Barton Town climbed to the top of the Premier Division table after beating Scothern by 37 runs, as they set a target of 103 before dismissing the Lincoln outfit for 66.
Market Rasen were in terrific form at Rase Park, where they skittled Cleethorpes 2nds out for 49, with Will Bradford taking five for 22 and James Kirk four for 12 before cruising to 51 for two in reply.
Previous leaders Hartsholme posted 117 all out at Haxey, with 30 from Joe Gilbert and 27 from Joe Birkitt. Jack Smith took four for 17 and Scott Ewen registered four for 26. Oliver Tonks then made 36 and Tom Smith hit 28 to guide the Isle side to its first league win of 2023.
Louth hit an impressive 226 for seven against Scunthorpe Town 2nds, as Josh O’Donohue made 52, Jason Collinson notched 44 and Laurence registered 40. But they were made to battle hard for their win when Scunthorpe replied with 201 for eight, with Ben Brumby hitting a superb 78 not out from number eight alongside 61 from opener Angus Evans. Henry Tye picked up three for 33 for Louth.
Elsewhere, Caistor Town inflicted another defeat on bottom-of-the-table Holton le Clay, setting a target of 101 thanks in the main to Liam Skipworth, who hit 42 not out. Dan Portus claimed five for 13, but Sean Woolley went one better for Caistor when he took six for 11 and Luke Francis recorded three for three, as HLC were dismissed for 36.
LCCL DIVISION ONE
Lindum 2nds have made a fantastic start to the summer and they collected another 20 points when they beat Messingham for a fourth straight win. Muhammad Mohsin hit 53 and Jack Mclagan registered 38, as they made 169 for seven before bowling their opponents out for 134. Dan Taylor took four for 28 and Mclagan recorded three for 32, with Matty Lawson top scoring with 31.
Nettleham 2nds picked up an eight-wicket win at Brumby Hall, where the dismissed App Frodingham 2nds for 100, as Harry Thornton took five for 21 and Lewis Bromfield 4 for 24. Liam Sylvester hit 50 for Frod before opener Dan McCardell made 60 not out and Harry Thornton hit 30 to see their team home.
Louth 2nds eased to a five-wicket victory over winless Outcasts, who posted a total of 159 at London Road with the help of skipper Richard Johnson’s 61. Alfie West took three for 36 before the hosts lost seven wickets when overhauling their target.
Cherry Willingham picked up their first win of the season after bowling Normanby Park out for 93. They then cruised to 93 for three, as Joe Dobson showed his undoubted bowling skills when he took an impressive four for five. Matt O’Halloran hit 30 to see Cherry home and leave Normanby still searching for their first league win since returning to Division One.
LCCL DIVISION TWO
Promoted Brocklesby Park have made a strong start to life in Division Two and they picked up a third win in four against Hartsholme 2nds to top the table. Muhammed Ayub hit 69 and Inderjeet Sandhu notched 65 in a total of 242 for eight. Sam Bunn took three for 43 before Lee Beevers struck an excellent 91 not out when Hartsholme replied with 171 all out. Harshand Taylor collected three for 29.
There was an exciting finish at Cross O’Cliffe Court, where visitors Broughton 2nds posted 196 for nine. Jack Johnstone hit 55, with Ben Fish reaching 36 and Nick Crawford registering 34. Bracebridge Heath 2nds fell just seven runs short when chasing, as Seb O’May scored 41 and Oliver Stringer 37. Phil Heath claimed four for 51 and Fish took three for 22, as Broughton clinched the 20 points.
George Short guided Barton Town 2nds to a seven-wicket win against Hibaldstow, who made 128 for seven in the first innings at Marsh Lane. Hamza Shahid hit 34 and Lee Robinson made 30, while Tom Palin claimed three for 23. Short made an unbeaten 65 to earn the Humbersiders the win.
Alkborough picked up their first league win of the 2023 season when bowling Grimsby Town 2nds out for 82, as Oliver Kirman and Andy Williamson claimed three wickets each before Kirman hit 29 not out and Lee Ridley registered 25 not out to take their side to 84 for two.
LCCL DIVISION THREE EAST
Horncastle continued their superb start to the season when they beat Louth 3rds by nine wickets at Coronation Walk. Thomas Hackett took three for 19, as Louth were dismissed for 84. Liam Evans made 53 not out to see his team to another 20 points.
Second-placed Cleethorpes 3rds had a 50-run victory over Grimoldby after posting a total of 167 for six, courtesy of 52 not out from Hanzullah Niazi and 35 from Stuart Wood. Rasoulkhan Ahmadzai took three for 21, as Grimoldby were bowled out for 107. Justin Owen proved defiant with 32 not out in the lower order.
There were runs galore at Well Lane, where Holton le Clay 2nds made an impressive 217 for six against Alford 2nds, with 63 from Steve Wright and 54 from Dan Baker. Jordan Smith claimed three for 28 for the hosts, who reached 177 in reply. Opener Ben Masterson hit 86, while Alex Maddison picked up a creditable five for 33 for the Grimsby outfit.
LCCL DIVISION THREE WEST
Nettleham 3rds climbed to the top of the Division Three West table after leaving Hirst Priory with 20 points. They bowled Outcasts 2nds out for 159 and then reached their target for the loss of just five wickets. Deol Singh hit 57 for the Isle side, while Richard Hauton scored 42 and Shurndeep Singh made 33 for the Lincoln outfit.
Scunthorpe Town 3rds remain unbeaten following their 10-wicket win over previous leaders Haxey 2nds, who were dismissed for 91 at Hibaldstow. Lucy Bailey took three for 18 before George Luya hit 57 not out and Daniel Barratt 29 for Scunthorpe.
Messingham 2nds were bowled out for 117 by visitors Scothern 2nds, as George Norris top scored with 39 and Muhammed Zubair took three for 15. Ben Gregory made 45 and Sam Cooke registered 26 to guide their team to a five-wicket win.
