Mulligans Trojans continue winning streak to lead the Scunthorpe Pool League
Mulligans Trojans remain the only Division One side with a 100% record after Alan Comerford’s beat Beacon 9-4 away to open up a four-point gap at the top of the Scunthorpe Pool League.
Their two main title rivals battled it out at Showmans, with Fu Cue claiming an excellent 8-5 victory over Army.
Mid-table sides Mulligans Majestic Sausage Dogs and Broughton Club shared the points this week as both sit joint-fifth in the table.
Showmans Improvers came close to avoiding defeat for the first time this season, but they suffered an 8-5 defeat against Chaos.
The Cobras, who are the fifth Showmans side in the top division, recorded a useful 8-4 victory over Redbourne Mods, with both sides looking to steer clear of the relegation places this season.
Cocked Hat B pulled three points clear at the top of Division Two, winning 9-4 away at Mill Road to maintain their 100% start to the season. Three players, R Cuthbert, L Cuthbert and Cowell, each sit nicely on five wins out of six.
RAOB propelled themselves into the title picture, as they won 9-4 at relegated Brumby Hall-Stars, who are so far struggling to adapt to life in the second tier.
Winterton Jubilee scored a decent 8-4 victory at home against fellow promotion rivals Brumby Hall A, while Showmans Rat Outcasts are holding their own following their promotion, seeing off Fedoras Z 9-4.
Elsewhere, Messingham Crown won their first game of the season away at Black Beauty.
Bottesford Town Club A are aiming for back-to-back titles this season, but they couldn’t maintain their 100% winning run this week after drawing away at Harry’s Bar.
Ashby Crown are looking to bounce back to Division Two at the first attempt following their relegation and they were aided by a 9-4 success at promotion hopefuls Mulligans Tight Rack.
Showmans Spartans kickstarted their season with their first win at Cocked Hat, while Glenny’s Poachers vs Pig n Whistle and Old Farmhouse vs Mulligans ST both ended in stalemates.
Only nine points separate top from bottom spot in Division Four, as this season looks to be a closely contested one.
Mill Road Dynamite remain four points clear at the top this week following their 8-4 win over Redbourne Madness.
Liberal Club are hoping to bounce straight back to Division Three and their 8-4 win at RHH Hospital Club will have done their cause no harm this week.
Two other results finished with the same scoreline, as ninth-placed Chancel Flyers secured a fine win over promotion hopefuls Showmans Bandits and Broughton WMCA beat Mulligans Misfits at home.
The only game that didn’t finish 8-4 this week was bottom side Redbourne NnCs fixture against Chancel A, which finished 6-6.
Division Five also looks to be a tight affair this campaign, with 11 points separating top from bottom.
Two sides remain on 100% winning records, as Black Beauty – who beat Ashby Crown 8-5 away from home – shares the top spot with 24 frames.
Showmans Hornets is the other team to have claimed victory in each of their matches so far, as they currently sit third following their 7-5 win over Mill Road B.
Despite recording one defeat, Beckwood Sex Panthers are joint top with 24 frames after their 8-4 home win over Roxy Rack Em did their title credentials a world of good this week.
One of the favourites for the league, Harry’s Bar Harriers, got back to winning ways by beating the other Beckwood side 8-4.
Meanwhile, Mulligans Youth are sadly struggling again following relegation, as they lost 9-4 to fellow relegated side Beacon Sailors. The Youth side are currently averaging more than four frames per match, so they are doing better than what their league position currently suggests.
Newcomers Schnapps A, who occupy top spot in Division Six, made it three wins out of three this week with a 10-3 victory at Refs Corner Pocket – a venue making its debut in the league.
Talbot also managed to record a win by the same scoreline at Schnapps Elite, with Mulligans Runaways maintaining their 100% record with a 7-5 success over Keadby WMC. Both sides are expected to challenge at the top end of the table this season.
The first Beacon derby of the campaign ended in stalemate, as the Rats drew with the B team.
Brumby Hall B vs Foxhills Bulldogs finished all square, while Mulligans Unique are pushing for another promotion as they won 8-5 at Foxhills Club.
Lord Roberts picked up the biggest victory across all the divisions this week, registering a whitewash 12-0 win at home to Priory, taking them up to third in the Division Seven table.
Schnapps Retro B remains the only side to have won all their games so far, with their latest 10-3 success coming at league newcomers Mulligans Warriors.
Sharing top spot is Bottesford Town Club B, but they did their promotion hopes little use with a narrow 7-5 defeat at Schnapps Reloaded.
Youth side Mulligans Spurs, which consists of under-18s, are showing encouraging signs of progress as they currently sit fourth following their 7-5 victory over Grosvenor.
Redbourne Z registered their first-ever victory in the Pool League in style, winning 11-2 at fellow league debutants Royal Hotel.
Scunthorpe Bowl sits eighth after their game with last season’s team KO plate semi-finalists Schnapps Retro A finished 6-6.
League action is now set to take a break, as the team KO preliminary round and the divisional team KOs – new competitions introduced this season on a trial basis for Divisions Six and Seven – kick off this week.
