Police issue warning to motorists in Grimsby
Humberside Police officers in Grimsby have issued a word of warning to motorists in Grimsby as the cold weather sets in.
The team shared a photograph via social media of a vehicle with its windscreen completely covered by frost, urging motorists to clear their windows before setting off.
A high number of vehicles which appear exceptionally icey at the moment is a result of shifting weather conditions.
Rule 229 of the Highway Code states that your windscreen and all other windows must be clear of all ice and snow so your view is unobstructed.
Your number plates and lights must also be clear of snow and ice
Failing to do so could result in motorists being handed a fine of up to £60 and three penalty points.
A spokesperson for the force wrote: “Please drive carefully & to the conditions and ensure your car windscreen is completely clear of frost prior to commencing your journey, its illegal and dangerous to drive with a frosty windscreen.”
