Full steam ahead for Louth McDonalds

which houses a children’s play park as well as the restaurant, is set to provide locals with up to 100 full time and part time jobs.

The new building is believed to be completely carbon neutral.

A proposal for a McDonalds in Louth was first unveiled in 2019.

The preliminary proposals for a McDonalds in Louth was announced in 2019, with a 24-hour drive thru attached to a coffee shop.

Speaking at the time a spokesperson for East Lindsey District Council said: “There has been a history of approvals on this site for drive-thru takeaway or restaurants, a public house, hotel etc.

“The site already houses a petrol filling station with Spar shop and historically the view has been taken that this site would provide an important facility for passing motorists on the adjoining and busy A16 road as well as serving the needs of those working on the Industrial Estate.

“The applicant has advised that the site would provide a large number of jobs and would primarily cater for the occupants of the Industrial Estate and passing motorists on the A16.

“The proposed drive-thru units would be acceptable on this site in principle and their design, layout and landscaping would be appropriate for a site within the Industrial Estate.”

Plans were delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but have since gone ahead. The building is now almost complete and is set to open in the coming days.

The project has mostly been met with widespread excitement from locals.

One said: “I can’t wait for this to open, its exactly what Louth needs!”

McDonalds have been contacted for an official opening date – updates to follow.
