Update after man found with sword down his trousers
A man was apprehended by police after a routine patrol spotted him acting suspiciously, with a certain suspicious item being revealed.
The man was spotted near Freeman Street, Grimsby, where the male was asked to stop but attempted to evade officers. Officers eventually caught up with the man and he was detained and searched.
The search revealed a ‘large sword’ that was hidden around the man’s waistband.
The man has been charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place and remains under investigation on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply.
He has had his first court appearance and has been remanded to prison awaiting his next court appearance.
The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in a public place,
along with suspected class A and class B drugs. Some of which had been secreted in the lining of his clothes.
Humberside Police said:
“The man was asked to stop, however, he tried to evade officers, tempted by the windy snickets our suspect tried to lose PC Kitchman and gave it legs. Very shortly after, one man was detained and searched.
“During the search, a large sword was recovered which had been hidden around his waistband.
“The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in a public place
“However, it appears it wasn’t the end of this chap’s night of misery and poor decisions.
Before being taken to his cell at Birchin way, a thorough person search was conducted by PC Williams and this search uncovered multiple wraps of suspected class A and class B drugs. Some of which had been secreted in the lining of his clothes.”
