Division One title to be decided on final day following penultimate pool league results

The Scunthorpe Pool League is heading for a final-day decider after each of the Division One title contenders recorded victories on Tuesday night.

Leaders Showmans Army beat Back In Black Beauty 10-2 at home, while Mulligans Trojans – also playing on home ground – saw off Broughton Club 8-4 to keep things tight at the top.

Showmans Fu Cue picked up the biggest win of the week, recording a convincing 11-2 victory at Beacon to keep their top two hopes alive.

Showmans Cobras’ 8-4 home success over Brumby Hall has effectively sealed their place in Division One for another season, but that result condemned the visitors to relegation back to the second division.

Elsewhere, Showmans Chaos beat Redbourne Mods 9-4 to secure a top-four finish.

Division Two also follows suit as top-placed Mulligans Majestic Sausage Dogs will face Showmans Improvers to determine who will claim the title.

This week, MSD earned their 13th victory of the campaign at home to relegated Glennys Poachers 9-3, while the Improvers needed a Stonier win in the decider to get them over the line and claim a crucial away point in their 8-5 win at Black Beauty.

Ashby Crown fell to a 10-3 defeat in their final home game of the season against Mill Road, leaving them in need of a final-day miracle to avoid relegation.

ROAB earned a solid 7-5 victory over fourth-placed Cocked Hat to maintain their position in sixth, with Winterton Jubilee coming away from Messingham Crown with a 6-6 draw to remain in third spot.

The league match at Liberal Crowle opened up with a minute’s silence for player Paul Church, who sadly passed away. A fitting tribute was made, as Liberal earned a 7-5 victory over Harrys Bar.

Showmans Rat Outcasts title celebrations were put on hold for a couple more weeks, as they faced a stumbling block at Mulligans Tight Rack losing 8-4. Two frames on the final day will mathematically secure the league title.

Fedoras did their top-two chances a world of good, winning convincingly 10-3 at Chancel. In third spot remains Old Farmhouse, who could only manage a 6-6 draw with Pig & Whistle and Showmans Spartans nailed on a top-four finish with a 9-4 win away at Cocked Hat A.

Bottesford Town Club opened up a four-point gap at the top of Division Four, with an excellent 10-2 home victory against Mulligans Youth.

Mulligans ST missed the chance to keep things tight at the top, as they could only manage a 6-6 draw at home to Chancel. Broughton WMCA’s game against Jolly Sailor and Redbourne Madness’s encounter with Schnapps A also finished in stalemates.

RHH Hospital club secured a 7-5 home victory over Mulligans NnC to stay fifth.

Showmans Young Ones scored Divison Five’s biggest win of the week, recording a 7-5 success to remain in pole position, while Mill Road Dynamite maintained their second spot with an 8-5 win at Roxy Rack Em.

Showmans Hornets and Black Beauty B ended 6-6 to ensure both sides stay third and fifth respectively. Talbot came out on top in the battle of the bottom two this week, as they won 8-5 at Butchers Of Winterton.

Only a dramatic swing in frames next week will see the visitors retain their position in the division, with Ashby Crown claiming an 8-5 win at Beckwood to all but ensure their survival.

Beckwood Sex Panthers have secured a promotion spot from Division Six this season, winning 9-4 away at Mill Road DM.

Runaway leaders Harrys Bar Harriers could only manage a 6-6 draw at home to Foxhills Bulldogs, however, they secured the title weeks ago.

Beacon Rats earned their 10th win of the campaign at home to bottom-placed Scunthorpe Bowl, while Brumby Hall B gave their survival hopes a lift with a decent 7-5 home victory over Beacon B. Schnapps Elite secure a 9-4 win at Foxhills Club to stay fifth.

Keadby Club have one hand on the Division Seven trophy, following their decisive 6-6 draw with second-placed Mulligans Unique. Lord Roberts kept up the pressure for a promotion place, scoring a convincing 11-2 win at Schnapps Retro A.

Youth side Mulligans Spurs earned another impressive victory this week at home to Priory, claiming a 9-3 win to take them up to seventh – their highest league position so far this season.

Bottesford Town Club B secured a top-five finish after seeing off Grosvenor 9-4 away, while the latest Schnapps derby between Retro B and Reloaded ended all square.
