Nuttall tells Scunthorpe he wants to stay despite Oldham bid

Scunthorpe United have received a bid from Oldham Athletic for striker Joe Nuttall but the striker has told the club he wants to stay, according to reports.

Iron chief operating officer Lee Turnball confirmed to BBC Radio Humberside that the Latics have tabled an offer for the striker, however, he added that the club want to keep hold of its best players and that Nuttall has expressed his desire to remain at Glanford Park.

Speculation regarding a potential deal broke this morning, with independent Scunthorpe United website Iron Bru reporting that the 25-year-old was set to have a medical at Boundary Park today.

The situation appears to have changed now, though, after the club confirmed earlier in the day that the forward was training with the rest of the squad.

The news that Nuttall looks set to remain with the Iron will no doubt be well received by the fans, given that the striker has scored five goals in the opening 10 matches of this season.
