Scunthorpe United complete signings of Tom Pugh and Caolan Lavery

Scunthorpe United have announced the return of former midfielder Tom Pugh and the signing of experienced striker Caolan Lavery.

Pugh has returned to the Iron on a deal until the end of the season after initially leaving the club at the beginning of the summer.

The 21-year-old, who came through the academy ranks, previously made 36 appearances for Scunthorpe in all competitions.

Pugh signed for National League North side Scarborough on non-contract terms two weeks ago and made two appearances for the Seadogs before being offered the chance to return to United.

Lavery, who has played for a host of Football League clubs, has joined on a deal until January.

The Canadian-born striker has experienced promotion three times in his career so far. He won League One with Sheffield United in 2016/17, before being promoted to the Championship the following campaign with Rotherham United through the playoffs.

The 29-year-old spent last season at Bradford City and has scored 47 goals in 252 career appearances across his career.

The Iron have also confirmed striker Marcus Carver has joined National League North side Southport on loan for two months.
