Students celebrate GCSE results across Grimsby
Learners at The Grimsby Institute received their GCSE English, Maths and Biology results today after working incredibly hard during the previous academic year.
The English and Maths departments even organised a small gathering for the learners to celebrate their time together. A number of learners, in particular, have achieved some excellent results today.
Mia Grace McCue has become a different person since coming to The Grimsby Institute. She said: “I’m so much more confident in myself and that’s all because of my tutors. I’ve received so much support from them, and it’s because of their patience and guidance that I passed today.”
Clare Wood decided to come back to education after starting a family and wanted to prove to herself that she could pass her GCSE’s. She said: “I’m over the moon. I passed my GCSE English during the re-sits in November and today I passed my GCSE Maths. I wanted to set an example for my children that education is important and to never give up, even when it’s difficult.”
Donna Underwood, Curriculum Manager for English, said: “Despite having a difficult time, our learners have made great progress this academic year and they have gained some fantastic results. We as a team are very proud of them.”
The Academy Grimsby also saw students pick up their results as a number of students achieved excellent results, with plans to progress on to Further Education and Apprenticeships.
Jesse Black achieved an amazing set of results and is going to The Grimsby Institute to study Uniformed Public Services. They said: “I loved being at TAG, the class sizes were small and my teachers were great. I really enjoyed my time at TAG and I’m really looking forward to starting at The Grimsby Institute.”
Ruby McGuire is going to do an apprenticeship at Queensway Nursery in Grimsby. She did the Health and Social Care Pathway. Ruby said: “I’m so happy with my results! Everyone at TAG has been so supportive, I’ve really enjoyed it.”
Matthew Holness, Principal at The Academy Grimsby, said: “This year saw our Academy learners sitting their GCSE’s for the first time since 2019. I’m incredibly proud of them all and wish them every success for the future as they take their next steps towards Further Education and Apprenticeships. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Academy team and all our parents for their support throughout the academic year.”
