Scunthorpe Tuesday Pool League reaches half way point with an amazing night!

Round 9 of the Scunthorpe Tuesday Pool League witnessed several key games as there were plenty of potential title deciders across the divisions.

In division 1, the title race is still very much a three-way battle. Both Showman’s teams earned 9 frames each as Fu Cue came away from Broughton Club as 9-4 winners and Army triumphed at home to Brumby Hall winning 9-3.

Two of the top four battled it out at Mulligans as Trojans cruised into a 6-0 lead at the interval. Chaos rallied back in style in the second half and almost snatched an unlikely draw but Trojans ensured a narrow 7-5 win in the end to stay second in the table.

Redbourne Mods and Showmans Cobras did their survival hopes a world of good with wins over Black Beauty and Beacon A respectively.

Showman’s Improvers have closed the gap at the top of division 2 to just 1 point with an excellent 8-5 over league leaders Mulligans Majestic Sausage Dogs. Braces from Searby, Schondelmeyer and Chessman secured victory in the 11th frame to ensure the title race will be a tight affair going into the second half of the season.

Mascots Betsy and Hugo have imposed severe ankle bites for any future lapses in form from ‘las dachshunds’. In a week of close scorelines, Mill Road won by the greatest margin this week winning 9-4 at Glennys Poachers. Black Beauty A pulled off an upset 7-5 victory at home to third-placed Cocked Hat B which will ease their relegation fears. The remaining two results ended in stalemate as both Messingham Crown v Ashby Crown and RAOB v Winterton Jubilee ended in draws.

Showmans Rat Outcasts pull six points clear at the top of division 3 with an 8-4 win over third-placed Fedoras which will be sweet revenge for the Rat Outcasts who lost out in last season’s team KO plate final to the hatters.

Clubmates Spartans missed out on the chance to keep up in the title race as they came away from Mulligans Tight Rack losing 7-5. Old Farmhouse has returned to some good form winning 8-4 at home to relegation-threatened Chancel Flyers.

Liberal Club picked up their first victory of the season winning 7-5 against Pig & Whistle to give the Crowle side some hope of survival going into the second half of the season. Harrys Bar came away from Cocked Hat with a 6-6 draw to keep themselves 5 points clear of the relegation zone.

RHH Hospital Club picked up their biggest win of the season as they thrashed bottom side Mulligans Youth who will be hoping for much better fortunes going into the second half of the season. The game of the day was at Mulligans as ST’s move into pole position for the first time this season overtaking their opponents Schnapps A with an 8-4 victory.

Chancel will be hoping to move closer to the promotion places in the next coming weeks. This week’s 9-3 win over ninth-placed Jolly Sailor will give them a confidence boost as they hope to pull as far away from the bottom two as possible. The first redbourne derby went in favour of NnC as they beat Madness to go level on points in joint fourth.

Mill Road Dynamite go top of division 5 for the first time this season as they came away from their Ashby High Street neighbours Crown with an 8-5 win. Beckwood Bombers have boomed their way right into the promotion picture in fifth place, winning 11-1 against Talbot.

Black Beauty B also did their promotion chances a world of good with an outstanding 12-1 win at The Butchers Of Winterton. A 6-6 draw at Mill Road B moves Roxy Rack Em off the bottom of the table. The result of the round went in favour of Showman’s Young Ones who inflicted defeat on clubmates’ Hornets for the first time this season with a very good 9-4 away victory. This result leaves the Young Ones in a great position to pounce into the top spot shortly as they look to capitalise with their game in hand next month.

Draws galore in division 6 as no fewer than 3 results couldn’t determine a winner this week. Harrys Bar Harriers remain 10 points clear at the top however they couldn’t muster a win this week at home to Schnapps Elite who snatched an impressive draw.

Beacon Old Boys picked up their fourth win of the campaign at home to bottom-placed Scunthorpe bowl, with star marksman Adi Hewes in lethal form this season winning 15 frames from a possible 16. Foxhills Bulldogs picked up the biggest win this week coming away from Brumby Hall with a 10-3 win. The other two results this week finished in draws as Foxhills drew with Beckwood Sex Panthers and Mill Road DM drew with Beacon Rats.

Schnapps Reloaded go top of division 7 this week with a 9-4 win over retro A. Closely behind in third come to Keadby Club who close the gap to just four points following their 9-3 win over Grosvenor. This leaves Keadby in a prime position to go top when they play their game in hand.

Mulligans Unique stay well in the title picture with a high scoring 10-3 victory at Schnapps Retro B. Under 18s side, Mulligans Spurs continue to impress in their journey into league pool as they managed an impressive 6-6 against the much more experienced fourth placed Lord Roberts side.

Priory will curse their luck as once again they failed to avoid defeat this week as Bottesford Town Club came away with a 9-4 victory, but with the second half of the season starting just next week there is plenty of time to turn their fortunes around and turn the narrow defeats into victories
