Celebrate the history and future of the port at ‘Astounding Inventions Down Dock in Grimsby’

An informative event is set for the historic port of Grimsby as attendees will have guided tours and ‘learn how amazing innovations have propelled us into the future.’

During the event, a guided walk through the streets will immerse those into the historic setting, with a chance to revel in Grimsby’s fishing heritage. The event was scheduled online by the ‘Grimsby Heritage Action Zone’s project manager, Stella Jackson.

“Find out how our unique traditional smoked fish is produced and why it’s different from anywhere else in the country,” the event page said.

There will be a Guided Walking Tour from 10 am until 3 pm, at every hour, including a tour of Alfred Enderby Ltd Smokehouse, at 10 am, 12 pm, and 2 pm. There will also be a guided tour of ‘The Great Escape,’ which will include a Paint the Town Proud artwork exhibition, at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm.

The event also says “Join Heritage Lincolnshire for a talk about Historic Building Conservation and the work being done at Petersons and Building 89. Gain insight into how we manage and protect our historic buildings for the nation and future generations.” The talks will take place in Henderson Street at 10.30 am, 12.30 pm, and 2.30 pm.

There will be Fish filleting demonstrations from The King’s Dish and an Exhibition of Grimsby Dock’s artworks at the Black Gull café, Auckland Rd, net braiding with the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre Trawler guides also.

Ebb and Flo will be giving Paddle boarding demonstrations on a training platform.

“Celebrate a century of industrial innovation in Grimsby Ice Factory and the pioneering future of the Kasbah’s reborn smokehouses with Great Grimsby Ice Factory Trust”. They said.

You will be able to find out about a variety of other unique projects taking part in Grimsby in time to come. Orsted will be giving insight into the world’s largest offshore wind farm, with operations from Grimsby. Attendees can ‘Sing along to some uplifting sea shanties and other music from local musicians and enjoy their faces painted by Teigan MUA & SFX.

There will be nearby food and drink including the Black Gull Café, Alfred Enderby’s Roro boat, and other street food from Cooky Cooks.
