Scunthorpe chairman issues response after training pitch vandalism
The Scunthorpe United chairman has issued a strong response after the Iron’s training pitch was vandalised.
Lee Turnbull has confirmed the club’s training pitch has yet again been victim to vandalism.
It is understood that the suspects are believed to be “youths” and have been caught on CCTV which will be passed on to Humberside Police.
Lee said the news was “really disappointing” given the hard work that staff have put, and the notion that the new football season is right around the corner.
In a statement, Lee said:
“This week we’ve unfortunately seen damage to the training pitch from local youths for the second time in quick succession, which is really disappointing following all the hard work that has been put in by the ground staff and volunteers over the summer.
“We do have CCTV footage and will be speaking to the police, but it’s frustrating that those people have decided to undermine the efforts to prepare the best pitch possible for Keith and the first team group.”
Updates to follow.
