Outrage after defibrillator ‘out of order’ notice appears
Scunthorpe shoppers have expressed their anger after an “out of order” notice appeared across a Morrisons defibrillator.
Yesterday a picture emerged on social media illustrating an out of order noticed plastered across a defibrillator at a Morrisons store in Scunthorpe.
The notice, which has since garnered a controversial response, read:
“Please note that this defibrillator is currently out of order, due to a global battery shortage.
“Your nearest working defibrillator is located at The Pods, Ashby Road, Scunthorpe.
“Apologies for any inconvenience caused.”
One shocked resident claimed the sign had been spotted a “few weeks ago”, adding that it is “shocking nothing has been sorted still.”
Another concerned local urged regular battery checks for defibrillators, especially amongst our rural communities, adding: “Something needs to change, it could cost a life!!!”
Another resident argued:
“Not very good, I wonder how many shops have their own defibrillators in that area? It is lifesaving equipment for anyone who’s heart stops working.
“Treatment given straight away gives that person more of fighting chance and not everyone knows how to give CPR correctly.”
