Police update after tragic house fire that left two dead

A man and woman have tragically died in a house fire at their residence in Utterby.

Emergency Services attended the incident on Main Road after receiving reports of the blaze at 11.17 pm Thursday, June 23.

Tragically, a 92-year-old man and an 83-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the property.

At the property, there are now floral tributes seen in memoriam of the two who sadly passed.

Lincolnshire Police and Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue are carrying out investigations. A road closure is in place and emergency services remain at the scene. Police are advising people to avoid the area.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said: “A 92-year-old man and 83-year-old woman have died following a fire at a property in Main Road, Utterby, Louth. Our Force Control Room received a report of a fire at around 11.17 pm on Thursday 23 June.”

Sadly, the man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene. Police and Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue are carrying out a joint investigation. A road closure is in place on the Main Road at the Ludborough crossroads.

Lincolnshire Police have now released an updated statement regarding the tragedy:

“We can confirm that this fire is not being treated as suspicious. The matter has been passed to the coroner.”
