Newly planted trees badly damaged by vandals at People’s Park
Four newly planted trees have been targeted by vandals over the past few days in People’s Park.
The trees, planted by North East Lincolnshire Council, have been badly damaged, snapped, and even pulled straight out of the ground.
Despite the safety fences that protect the woodland from such attacks, vandals still managed to cause damage.
North East Lincolnshire Council shared images of the attack, adding: “Who does this to a tree? If you know anything about who callously destroyed these 4 trees we just planted in People’s Park, please contact the police using the non-emergency number 101 and quote the crime number 22000025751.”

Many locals are angry at the attacks as the park has become a hotspot for anti-social behaviour in the last few months.
One local said: “Mindless yobs. When the council tries to make our town look nice you’ve got idiots like these that spoil it.”
Others felt that more policing and preventative measures should be taken to prevent such attacks, with one local stating: “Maybe it some of the countless large groups going round there causing trouble every single night without fail due to the complete lack of police these days.”
