Man in court following tragic death of groom-to-be
A motorcyclist denied causing the death of a biker in Louth following the collision, involving an ambulance on the A16, and will not face trial.
A plea of dangerous driving was accepted by prosecutors by Adam Clover, 31, of Warren Road, Saltfleet.
Clover had earlier pleaded not guilty to causing death by dangerous driving of another motorcyclist, Liam Addison, of Louth on June 9, 2020.
Mr. Clover was due to stand trial for four days at Lincoln Crown Court, though the prosecution stated they would not be pursuing a trial, on the charge of death by dangerous driving following their review of evidence.
Sarah Phelan, prosecuting, had spoken to Mr. Addison’s family, who had flown from Cyprus, with a plea of dangerous driving being acceptable by the Crown Prosecution Service.
Clover pleaded guilty to the charge of dangerous driving on the A16 at South Thoresby on June 9, 2020. He will be sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on Thursday after Judge Simon Hirst adjourned the case, before a probation report.
Judge Hirst told Clover he was “Making no promises” regarding his sentence. “The fact I am adjourning this case for a report does not mean it will not be a custodial sentence.”
Clover was given unconditional bail until the sentencing hearing and received an interim driving ban.
The charges followed the incident at South Thoresby junction on the A16, where Mr. Addison, 30, who lived in Grainthorpe, died.
Mr. Addison was due to get married and was an experienced rider.
