By Locals band together to keep our town clean!
The Scunthorpe Litter Pickers are back again to keep our town as clean as possible.
On Sunday (23 June), the pickers will work in collaboration with North Lincolnshire Council as they look to tidy up the Frodingham area.
Sitting at over 1,000 members, the litter pickers operate as a collective, conducting thorough ‘picks’ across the town.
As a result of their passion for our area, the council have recognised the litter pickers’ efforts and now offer supplies to members which allow them to continue their hard work!
Now, members of the litter pickers and council will help one another once again – if you are wanting to donate some of your own time, the group encourage newcomers to get involved.
Last week, Jayne Clare, a veteran local litter picker, said the pick is more than just tidying up the area and could even provide opportunities to meet new people!
“The more people we have the quicker we will get done”, Jayne added.
If you are wanting to participate, the council have arranged a “safety briefing” at Holy Souls Church, Frodingham Road, prior to the pick commencing.
North Lincolnshire Council will provide each participant with the necessary equipment!
The meeting and litter pick will last from 9:30am to 1pm on Sunday 26 June.
