Grimsby’s ‘queerest’ pride party comes to Q World!

Next month, Grimsby’s ‘queerest’ party will be coming to Q World to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and create a safe space for everyone.

On Saturday 2 July at 7pm, the colourful party will kick off in Q World’s Harbour Room, recently decorated to look like a Barbie paradise.

Organisers Robbi and Joshua said they hope the event will build a solid community and create a safe space for those of all sexualities and identities to come together and celebrate.

They said: “We set up the event in the hope that people of all ages, genders, sexualities and identities can come together to find pride in one another, and build a solid foundation for Grimsby and Cleethorpes’ LGBTQIA+ community.

“Our area has seen countless hubs for our community close in recent years, and since we both returned to the area during the pandemic, it has been clear to us that the area is crying out for a safe space for all to let their hair down, make friends, and support like minded folk.

“Q World aims to serve that purpose. The event name takes inspiration from queer people all over our area. The event will be hosted by Dixie, a local drag artist well known for their time at Silhouette, along with acts by various other local drag artists, circus light performances by Mystic Movements, and entertainment throughout the night.”

They added: “In terms of a venue, Cue World has risen through the ranks in the last year, with its increased popularity for functions and recent redecoration under new ownership. We chose this venue because we believe it is important for a queer space, such as our event, to be integrated into the wider community, especially a typically masculine location such as Cue World, in the hope that we can bridge the gap between our differences, and focus on what brings us together as people.”

Tickets for the event are £5 per person, or £20 for 5 tickets. 20% of the proceeds on ticket sales will be donated to Stonewall Charity, for their contribution to supporting a full conversion therapy ban for all members of the LGBTQIA+ community throughout the UK.
